Retail Therapy

I'm sure you've heard the expression "Shop til you drop!". Well that was me two nights ago.

A dear friend passed away last Saturday. He was an old friend of my late husband, Bob. Although I hadn't seen him too much in the last year, he always kept in touch and liked hearing my stories about travel and other adventures. He got sick about a month ago and next thing you know, he died. He was only 71 years old. I suppose it's good that he lived an active life right up until the end, but somehow that didn't comfort me too much.

At the wake there were many more friends that I used to see a lot of when I was married. There was a lot of reminiscing about parties, trips, dinners, and good times; but the more I heard, the more depressed I got. So on the way home my car just seemed to pull into Macy's parking lot on its own volition.

I started with a gown to wear on New Year's Eve....then some sweaters...moved on to the shoe department and bought a couple of pairs including a stunning pair of silver sequinned evening shoes to go with the gown. Some new jewelry seemed in order...why not? New jewelry is always in order...a Countess can never have too many jewels! Somehow I found myself in the lingerie department. Silky underwear always makes a girl feel good about herself. I wandered by the coat department next and was drawn in by a fur lined cape....so evocative of the Romanovs. I had to have it! By now my buying frenzy had reached its peak and the buzz was wearing off. Oh well, let's throw in a pair of cashmere lined leather gloves to top off the night!

Phew! I feel a lot better now.

I hope you are using your private, armored rail car for transporting your goodies back to the castle.
Mrs. Astor - I woke the guards out of a sound sleep in the Castle Bedelia Tower. They grumbled a little about escorting me home but not too loudly. Grumbling peasants don't last too long around here!
As they say... "When the going gets tough, the tough go shopping." :-)
sweety, remember me to be around you next time you feel depressed...

i need new heels...

That´s what friends are for, right?
to be around when we get depressed
I am so sorry for your loss Countess. 71 is far too early to leave this Earth. However, it sounds like you had many wonderful times together, and that is something to always cherish.

I'm glad you had successful retail therapy at Macy*s too. You're the best - never forget it!! :-)
Mark - There is nothing tougher than an old Countess (although rumor has it that she has a soft heart).

Ian - what kind of heels do you want? My retail therapy has a few more sessions left!!

Jesse - You are a sweetheart. When are we going to see you again? It must be time to hit SoBe.
haahaha

it was just a stoopid joke...

I´m happy to see a friend of mine knowing how to deal with pain... some people would think it could be something silly/arrogant/superficial, but the ones who know (LOVE) You, understand that´s a virtue of yours:

"to know how to deal with pain"

And we admire you forthat (between some -millions of- other things.

mwah!
Oh Countess...
