BTF friends in New York!!

Last night The Countess met up with Ryan and Stephanie who have relocated to New York City from the Berkshires. Both of them found great jobs AND apartments. The Countess is jealous!!!

We went to the Ensemble Studio Theater to see Tommy Schrider in "Close Ties". Tommy has been in so many plays at the Berkshire Theatre Festival that I was dying to see him in something in NYC.

Close Ties is a story of a typical dysfunctional family dealing with the problems of old age, sibling rivalry, marriage, and just keeping it all together in a crazy world. " (The play) tells the story of three generations of the Frye family gathering at their vacation home in the Berkshires. The center for all of them has always been the willful matriarch, Josephine. The play reveals what happens to the very fabric of a family as they have to face the realization that this once indomitable center can no longer hold. It is a play that celebrates with humor and truth the mystery and very nature of family."

Tommy's character comes into this family and kind of stirs things up....all for the good. The play stirred up a lot of emotions for me. As I told Tommy afterward, it made me 'feel'. It was interesting that I was identifying with the older characters and Ryan and Stephanie identified with the younger ones......or maybe not so much as interesting as a manifestation of the play itself. It did stir up a lot of emotions. The play is closing October 12th, so get over there to see it if you are in NYC.

After the play we all went to Taboon, a fantastic Mediterranean restaurant on 10th Ave. (Thank you to Bryce for recommending it.......YES, the bread is fantastic!) The Countess met a new friend, Catherine, who joined us for drinks and dinner. Catherine is the wife of Robert Serrell who many of you know from BTF. Bobby is will be performing with the Actor's Shakespeare Project in 'Merchant of Venice' which runs from November 6th to December 7th.......if you are in the Boston area, here is another recommendation for you.

Thank you all for a wonderful evening of theater, friends, laughs, and maybe a glass of Glenlivet....or two!

Today I walked to Grand Central Station just to see it for the first time. I can't believe that in all the times I have come to this city, I never went over there. Just follow the Chrysler Building..you will get there.

And, because I like to take pictures of all the interesting sites, feast your eyes on these beautiful boys from Denmark. Aren't they gorgeous?

Tonight I have to do this all over again! 'The Tempest' starring Mandy Patinkin, with that devilishly handsome Bhavesh Patel. Then more fun with Bhavesh, Daiva, and Matt. Another story for another day.
