Return to NeverLand...or the Castle Bedelia...whichever comes first!
The Countess duBarry finally arrived at the Castle Bedelia after a tortuous journey from the frozen tundra she lives in. The dogsled driver took a wrong turn at an iceberg and circled the North Pole twice. Finally they asked directions from an Eskimo who told them, "second star to the right, and straight on till morning", and they arrived.... breathless, frozen, and a little disoriented.

That fabulous rock star, Bennett Harrington, met us for dinner. He had some exciting news to tell us. He is taking his starship and moving to Las Vegas to pursue his career!!!
Doesn't he look like Jonathan Rhys Meyers?

We went to a wonderful steakhouse in the area and met Tuck, the hostess....

Tuck is a figure skater moonlighting as a hostess!!
We had a great time visiting with Bennett and look forward to visiting him in Las Vegas. Good luck!!
Last night we went into Boston for a cocktail party at Morton's Steakhouse thrown by Kate Maguire, the Executive Director of the Berkshire Theatre Festival, to announce their 80th season. There were many important people there like State Senators and Representatives and BTF board members but The Countess was very happy to see some of my friends from the BTF staff.
Here are Ryan, the House Manager, and Liz, Associate Producer....

I did miss my dear friend, Stew Nantell, who I had hoped to see, but he couldn't make it. See you soon, Stew...*waves*
Kate Maguire is the person who makes this theater run and she does it magnificently. I am in awe of her.

One of the main focus of the theater is education and community involvement. They show productions to over 10,000 children. In the fall over 100 children are directly involved in a production. This year it will be "Oliver". Kate related the most beautiful story about a young boy who was in one of their past productions.
"Michael is an identical twin. His brother Peter is the sports star, shining on the basketball court and on the “A” team at school. Michael tried out and was picked to be a part of the Berkshire Theatre Festival production of “The Wizard of Oz”. After the show, his dad went up to Kate Maguire, the Executive Director of the Berkshire Theatre Festival, and thanked her for allowing his son to finally succeed. Kate expressed how humble this made her feel and also how it emphasized how the arts can have such a profound effect on a young person’s life.
Kate was not prepared to meet Michael one day and to have him hand her an original script that he had written. “Thank you, Ms. Maguire, please read my script.” As Kate relayed it, this script is better than many she has read from professional playwrights. This summer Michael’s play will be read at a play reading and considered for production on the stage and Michael will be working as a production assistant to learn about the theater process.
Not every kid is cut out to be a sports star. But there are many other stars in the sky. I think that Michael might have a lock on one of them."
Thank you, Kate for sharing that story.
There are a few more stories to share but I'll save that for my next post.
