Cedar Falls, Iowa Flood update...
First of all, thank you to everyone who sent messages of support concerning my son who has lost his home in the Iowa flood.
I just talked to him and he says that the river has receded quite a bit. He has been able to get to his house but is not sure if it is structurally sound as it was under water for several days. He was able to save his two Harley motorcycles though, so it isn't a total loss!!
He said the water came up really fast when it started. With the help of his friends, he loaded up his two trucks with what he could and was able to drive them up to high ground. Then he went back to help his neighbors. In the end, he swam out pushing his neighbor's wife and children in a raft.
Thankfully he is safe and staying with friends and just trying to deal with the aftermath. The emotional toll has started to set in for him and his friends.

I've been watching this nightmare for two days, and it hasn't even begun for those downstream. Is there any good to come from this year? What's next? Oh, that's right; it's hurricane season...
