Saturday nite in the city that never sleeps....

A visit to Matuschka's fabulous apartment on the upper East side is a treat. I believe that it will soon be featured in Architectural Digest. Matuschka has created a work of art out of her living space. Every nook and cranny is an adventure in art, texture, and design!

Of course the first thing to do is to say 'Hello' to her beautiful parrot. She lives in a fantastical cage and has her own tree to hang out in.....

Every wall features some of Matuschka's art....

Even the bathroom is a work of art.....

Then we were off in her MINI Cooper on an adventure to find the Brooklyn Museum.....this was NOT easy, my friends.....but finally we made it in time to meet Gilbert and George.

The internationally famous artists were giving a talk about their work that night.

Matuschka with Gilbert and George

Gilbert and George met 40 years ago and have been a couple in love, life, and art since then. They incorporate their own images into all their art.

This is just one part of an enormous piece......

Some of their art is very graphic.....

I do have to mention how impressed I was with the 'Target, First Saturdays' at the Brooklyn Museum. Admission is free. There were concerts and dances. The museum was packed with people that night and that is very exciting to see. The Brooklyn Museum is a vibrant place filled with life; not to mention great art. And congratulations to Target for sponsoring this. I'm glad that I shop there.

Then it was off to the East Village to the Sidewalk Cafe to hear a friend of Matuschka's play a set. The next picture you will see is AMAZING! Matuschka parked her MINI Cooper in a parking space no bigger than the car itself! The Countess was totally in awe of this.

One of the acts that night at the Sidewalk Cafe was the Venn Diagrams. If you ever have a chance to see them perform, go for it. They are wonderful. The Countess laughed and listened and applauded. Jeffrey Marsh has the VOICE and Rick Sorkin has the GUITAR. Together they are fantastic!

So ends my short visit to New York City. Every visit is too short. It might be time to find that little studio apartment.

This brings back memories, both of Brooklyn (*sigh*) and London, where I saw the Gilbert and George exhibition, in 2007, at the Tate Modern.

But you got to meet them, too! You amaze me as always, Countess.
