Shakespeare Speaks to The Countess....

Last week, my beautiful friend Halley came with me to see a production of
Twelfth Night at Shakespeare & Co. The attraction to the play was not just to see one of Shakespeare's happiest plays but to see our friend, the multi-talented Alexander Sovronsky, play a part, play an instrument, and hear his musical compositions for the show. (Just a little insider info....Alex played his violin for the sound track of "Ghosts"....next up at Berkshire Theatre Festival.....Thank You, Alex!!)

The Countess was ever more excited to see Merritt Janson as Viola, Corrina May as Maria, and so many S&Co regulars in the play. Here is Alexander and Merritt playing instruments during the finale of the play.

A truly magnificent and fun production. Make sure you get tickets and see it this summer!!

Halley and I stopped in at ...... where else???? ... Rumpy's Tavern for a drink after the show. Halley will be on tour with an educational theater company this fall and then back in NYC. Much fun and success on tour, sweet Halley....see you in the City!

Also playing at Shakespeare & Co. is "The Dreamer Examines His Pillow". The Countess went to opening night last Saturday and this show is a MUST SEE experience for all true theater lovers. I was drawn to the production because John Douglas Thompson is one of the players. This man won an Obie this year for his portrayal of Othello. He is truly one of the greatest actors of our time. (And you can see him as Othello all summer at Shakespeare & Co.) And just for your pleasure and mine, read this 2001 interview in the Boston Phoenix....I luv JDT)

But matching the star talent of JDT, are his co-stars, Miriam Hyman and Bowman Wright. The power of their performances just blew me away.

Yes, there is a lot of fun at the Bars in the Berkshires, but the true magic is in all the wonderful cultural experiences you can have. From theater to dance to music to art...it is all here in a very small geographical area. Google the Berkshires, come to visit, and have the BEST that there is to experience.
