Wingnut theology...

The wack-job is once again denying reality.
Watch Sarah Palin pardon a turkey as one is killed behind her.....and then she says that she will cook a turkey on Thanksgiving. Now I don't want to be a hypocrite because I will definitely eat some turkey on Thanksgiving but .... Sarah Palin?? Why pardon a turkey and then eat a turkey? Does anyone besides me find this a little hypocritical?
This woman should put the rest of the U.S.A. out of our misery and follow her son...Striker? Trig? a comic book character? who the hell knows.
Here's a sane person:

Scott Jensen is the one who filmed the scene. He’s local station KTUU’s award winning chief photographer. He told CC from KUDO radio yesterday that Sarah Palin, who was standing next to her personal assistant throughout the entire interview, chose the spot on which she stood for the “turkey slaughter interview” that quickly went viral on the internet, and received wide coverage in the news media. The turkey slaughter was already underway when the governor chose the spot. The photographer pointed out what was going on and asked her if she wanted to move. She said, “No worries.”

But Palin is now denying all of it, and implicitly calling the photographer a liar:
“The [Alaska] governor did not know it was going on behind her,” Palin’s spokesperson tells ET of the reportedly grisly scene at Triple D Farm & Hatchery outside Wasilla. Cameras captured Palin extending the annual Thanksgiving pardon to one turkey while a farm hand slaughtered the bird’s feathered friends in the background.

Who are you going to believe: Palin or your lyin' eyes? And if she really didn't know what was happening behind her....do you want her to be a person who can make decisions about your life?

Adam & Scott Tie the Knot !!

Wow...where does the time go?? It has been one whole week since I attended the wedding of Adam and Scott. Every day we feel fortunate to live in Massachusetts where this ceremony can take place and be completely legal. And if you were present to witness the love and joy from family and friends at this wedding, you wouldn't question the legality but just enjoy the rightness of this union.

Adam and his best woman, Karen, were feeling the pre-wedding jitters......Pleast note the beautiful white Nehru jacket that was custom made for Adam for the wedding....

The ceremony was beautiful. Adam and Scott wrote their own vows. There was not a dry eye in the house...

Andrew performed the ceremony. Here he is with his partner, Troy, and Troy's son, Dylan.....

Toasts were offered for the happy couple....

Proud Parents were in attendance....

There was dancing and Adam and Scott got very sweaty (probably thinking about the wedding night) !!!!!

The Countess might have abandoned all her decorum and danced 'The Twist'.....but the Macarena topped that.....

The Countess made a new friend, Serena......

Unfortunately Serena is already taken by this bewitching beauty.....

The Betty Crockerettes that made all the wonderful food at the wedding shower were happy guests (they didn't have to cook that night !!)....

Dante was serving the wine. Isn't he adorable? He is off to college this fall....

Such a happy time!!! Thank you, Adam and Scott, for including me. I wish you a lifetime of happiness!!!!

More on the political front lines...

First, my apologies to Adam and Scott for not blogging about their wedding which is what everyone is fighting for the right to have. You are next up, my darlings!!!!

Next I give a Shout Out to Joe.My.God. whose blog everyone should read every day. He has all the LGBT news, gossip, and photos about what is happening. The Countess was reading Joe's blog and happened on this little tidbit from The Beastie Boys:

I don't know if you can read the questions from the picture but this is what it says:

"WHY?
IS SAME SEX MARRIAGE REALLY A BIG DEAL TO YOU?
WITH UNEMPLOYMENT AT IT'S WORST IN YEARS..
2 WARS GOING ON..
THE STOCK MARKET CRASH..
MILLIONS OF AMERICANS CAN'T AFFORD INSURANCE..HEALTHCARE..A PLACE TO LIVE..
GLOBAL FKN WARMING!!!
WHAT THE F#@K!?!
really..?
it's 2008 and this is what you're afraid of...same sex marriage...!?!
again I have to ask...
WHY!?!

This just struck me as so simplistic as to be genius.....WHY? We, as Americans, are facing drastic times. There are so many basic issues that we are all facing in our every day lives. We are all equal in our daily struggles.....straight, gay, black, white, arab, whoever...... WHY is gay marriage an issue today? I give you another of Joe's blogs to illustrate the sanctity of marriage by one of the most hypocritical enemies of gay marriage....Newt Gingrich.

From Joe's Monday, November 17th column:

Newt Gingrich Loves All Three Of His Traditional Marriages

"It's so laughable when serial adulterers defend "traditional marriage."Newt Gingrich: "I think there is a gay and secular fascism in this country that wants to impose its will on the rest of us, is prepared to use violence, to use harassment. I think it is prepared to use the government if it can get control of it. I think that it is a very dangerous threat to anybody who believes in traditional religion."

And I think if you believe in historic Christianity, you have to confront the fact. And, frank -- for that matter, if you believe in the historic version of Islam or the historic version of Judaism, you have to confront the reality that these secular extremists are determined to impose on you acceptance of a series of values that are antithetical, they're the opposite, of what you're taught in Sunday school."

Apparently what Gingrich was taught in Sunday school was how to commit adultery over and over and over and marry as many times as you feel like it. Hell, he even committed adultery while he trying to bring down Bill Clinton for, uh, committing adultery."

Read the rest on Joe's blog.

National Protest Day against the California Prop. 8 vote

Please join The Countess and millions of other people who think that votes against gays are votes against civil rights for all.

"Join the Impact" is organizing a National Protest Day on Saturday, November 15th. Click the link and find a rally near you.

You can print the flyer here.

We beat the religious wingnuts and bigots TWICE in Massachusetts. We can do it across the nation!

I am so proud to be attending the wedding of my dear friends, Adam and Scott, that very night. Thankfully in Massachusetts they have the right to love each other and commit to each other and enjoy the congratulations of their family and friends.

And to my friends and family who do belong to religions that do not honor my friend's marriage, I say to you:

I don't go to your church and tell you what to do. Please do not come to my life and tell me how to live. In this great country of ours we are supposed to have a separation of church and state. That is so the people of all faiths...or none...can enjoy freedom from persecution and have equal rights under the law.

Now that the excitement of the election is over, The Countess can get back to posting about important things like......me! But first I just have to say a word about the votes in California, Florida, and Arizona which banned gay marriage. It is extremely disappointing to me to think that there are so many people out there who voted for this. Very disappointing. But I am hopeful for the future now that the worst President in history will soon be out of the White House.

That said, let's get back to the fun that was had last weekend! Four parties in two nights....and I had to skip a couple because The Countess can only be in one place at a time!!!

Tony Lee Thomas was playing at Rumpy's Tavern on Saturday night and you know that The Countess never misses Tony if she can help it. He was looking so cute in his adorable hat....

Tony & Jason

The Naked band ladies, Julia and Rachel, joined him on stage for a couple of songs. These ladies have such beautiful voices. I first heard them up at Dream Away during the summer.

Kelly, who I met on Halloween night, returned to see Tony play. She came all the way from England to intern at a local hotel for a year.

Then I met Mimi and James who were in town for a getaway weekend. Mimi friended me on MySpace so we will keep in touch that way. Come back to the Berkshires soon, my new friends.

After catching up with Tony, it was off to see Crankenstein at Flavours. Here is Sabrina, the master chef at Flavours, and Dawn, Crankenstein's wife who has her own band Pariah, with The Countess....

Dawn is running a benefit at Flavours on Sunday, November 16th, from 12 to 5. "Berkshire Musicians for a Cure" will feature bands, food, and good times. Tickets are only $10 at the door. Hope to see you all there.

Chin, the owner of Flavours, was colorful as always in his retro 1970's outfit. He always gets The Countess up for a dance....

It was great to see everyone at Flavours. I hadn't been over there for awhile. They are so friendly and always make sure you have a good time.

Yes, we can!

GOOD MORNING, America!

This is going around in text messages today:

Rosa sat so Martin could walk.
Martin walked so Obama could run.
Obama is running so our children can fly.
(Thanks to my friend, Jackie, in Tennessee for this post.)

VOTE TODAY!

The one time I didn't vote in a local election, my candidate lost by ONE vote. That vote was mine. Your vote counts.

I am off to the polls to celebrate the one right that hasn't been threatened by the wingnuts as of this date, the right to vote.
UPDATE:

And now tears of joy!!!!! Obama has prevailed. I am writing this after listening to John McCain's concession speech and that gave me a few tears as well. I was a proud Republican for most of my voting years. I guess now you would call me a Goldwater Republican...when the Grand Old Party meant fiscal responsibility, small government, and individual rights. Somehow the Religious Wingnuts took over the party and it became something else....something that I found abhorrent. John McCain survived the Vietcong prison camps and he earned my admiration and respect. He has given his life in service of our country and I admire him for that. I admire him for the speech he gave tonight.

Now I am going to listen to the next President of our country give a speech of hope and promise. I am very excited and happy to have been able to vote for him today.

Halloween night in the Berkshires....

The Countess started her night with a visit to Michael's of Stockbridge. They were having a big Halloween extravaganza with a live band. I wanted to see my girls behind the bar, Susan and Melissa, and wish them lots of Treats and no Tricks.

Sean, who runs the karaoke nights at Michael's wanted his picture on the blog, so here you are dear Sean.....

Then I was off to Rumpy's Tavern in Lenox where I was one of the 'celebrity' judges! Sir Scott, Cindy (the Queen of the Bar), and The Countess were in charge of the costume contest. There were a lot of innovative ones but I was very impressed with this young man who told me that everything he was wearing came from The Dollar Store....even his underwear!

They say that imitation is the most sincere form of flattery, and Sir Stew, First Knight of the Berkshires, took that to a new level when he came as "The Countess". Needless to say, he won First Prize!!!

Father Troy was behind the bar dispensing the Holy Water to all of us sinners along with a blessing and absolution....

Madam Adam and her fiance, Sir Scott, arrived. Madam Adam was giving Tarot Card readings in the corner all night....

Here are a few more costumes.....

Michael Allen Lowe came in to see the new Countess.....

Cindy, the Queen of the Bar, was looking quite lovely that night....

Madonna dropped in with her pals from BTF.....

Rolfe and the Lady Jessica arrived and proceeded to show the rest of us how to dance!

Steve from Shakespeare & Co. got into the act and Steve from Berkshire Theatre Festival was right behind him.....

These two gentlemen came in with a big party and no costumes but it didn't stop them from having fun. They danced all night!

Our Dollar Store Girl gave a kiss to her boyfriend when she won a prize!

And our friend from the Chester Theatre Company, Jim Beaudin, dropped in to say hello...

And you know that The Countess danced and pranced and had a ball and NEVER spilt one drop of Glenlivet...

Trick or Treat!
